Manito Sesquicentennial Committee Announces Funding

The Manito Sesquicentennial Finance Committee announces the following projects to fund the Sesquicentennial during 2008:

One project is the sale of Sesquicentennial Bricks imprinted with donors’ names. In honor of the 150th birthday of Manito, one hundred fifty bricks will be available for $150 each.  The bricks will then be placed at a prominent site in Manito with the location to be named soon.    In addition, other sponsorship opportunities are available for events scheduled throughout the year.  More information is available by contacting Larry and Debbie Kruzan of Lost Creek Pottery at 968-POTS (7687).

Major donors at this point are the Forman Valley Community Foundation, The Village of Manito, Bruce and Beverly Meyer, who are sponsoring the fireworks on May 24, and other friends of the Sesquicentennial.  The Committee thanks them for their support.

Fund raising events scheduled for this year include the February 16th Dinner Dance by the Sesquicentennial Committee, a Chili Oyster Supper on March 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church hosted by the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Committee, the Community Musical on April 3,4, and 5, and a Golf Outing on May 10 by the Committee.   In addition, “Sew Happy Together Quilters,” are making a Signature Quilt, which will have 200 blocks available to sign and included in the quilt, for a donation of $5.00 each. The quilt will be completed and auctioned at the Friday night on Broadway in December.  Other events will be announced at a later date.

There will also be a number of Sesquicentennial commemorative items available for purchase at the Dinner Dance on February 16th and at each Sesquicentennial event throughout the year.

The Sesquicentennial Finance Committee has set a goal to have most events free and open to the public. In order to have a successful Sesquicentennial year of free events, the committee welcomes the support of the entire community.
