Manito Sesquicentennial Committee Planning Meeting November 19th 2007

Opened the meeting having everyone say the pledge to the American flag.

Minutes from October 25, 2007 were approved. 16 members were present.

Discussion of 2008 Events

January Genealogy workshop Terri reported this is being taken care of by the Historical Society. Sign up is going on currently.

February Inaugural Event This event will be a fundraiser, 200 tickets can be sold with the committee to make about $10 per ticket.

Tickets are ready to be sold, price will be $45.00 per person. Will be sold to members of the Sesquicentennial Committee and Village board first. Members should let Becky or Susan know before December 7th if they want tickets. On December 7th tickets will go on sell for the public at Friday Night on Broadway.

Barricks Cater Inn will be catering the meal. A check for $300 is needed for a deposit.

Loose Shoes from Pekin will be performing.

March Chili/Oyster Supper Nothing new to report

March Battle of Bands No local bands have committed. Do we want to pay for supervision. We will reevaluate at next meeting in December.

April Musical Nothing new to report

April Antique Appraisal Nothing new to report

May Golf Outing Nothing new to report

May Memorial Day Celebration More booths are needed, we can work on this the beginning of the year.

In May the Health Department will have meeting on food safety, they will wave the fee.

Charlene has 5 demonstrators for the day.

Shawn P is working on Art in the Park.

June Bridal Show/Tour of Homes Nothing new to report

July Cruse In/Memorabilia Nothing new to report

August Ag Day Possible events, demonstrations will be done at the school, tractor parade, kids tractor pull, toy tractors, ag crafts and music in the evening.

August Popcorn Festival Nothing new to report

September Heritage Day Nothing new to report

Other Business

Larry showed sample of Pottery, plans to make 250.

Debbie suggested having for sale quilt blocks through the year. The quilt could be put together and raffled off the end of the year, possible on at Decembers Friday Night on Broadway.

Fundraiser Bricks are being looked into. Can be sold at Inaugural event.

Manito Bank will sponsor a Chili supper on December 7th, at Friday Night on Broadway. Proceeds will go to the Sesquicentennial.

 

Bev and Judy looked into mementos, will get together with Debbie before ordering.

Do we Still need sponsors for any events?

Should Executive Committee meet to discuss sponsors and marketing?

Any ideas for October, November & December 2008.

Kathy Embree is gathering memorabilia from the Civil War.

Sesquicentennial Event sticks are close to being ready.

Video was discussed briefly we would still like to do one.

Next meeting will be December 17th at 5pm at the Village Hall.
